Set amidst rolling hills of ochre and reddish-brown colours that form a pleasing contrast to the endless shades of green, the Segesta Archaeological Park is dominated by the majesty of an elegant Doric temple. The ancient Segesta, probably founded by the Elymians, still looks as it did to travellers on the Grand Tour. The whole area has remained more or less the same: vast hills used for sowing or grazing, modest hills with few trees. There are few recent constructions, which make this place exceptionally beautiful. You will visit the Solitary Temple and another monument that has come down to us: the theatre of Segesta, located at an altitude of 400 metres, built during the 3rd century B.C. Its position allows the visitor to enjoy a breathtaking view of the landscape that opens up all around the ancient city with a Mediterranean scrub consisting of agaves and broom plants.
